Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 21, 2026
Who we are
This policy covers the Whalecast mobile app and this website ("Whalecast", "we", "us"). It explains what information we handle, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Your account. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive an account identifier, your email address (with Apple, this can be a private relay address) and, if you share it, your name. We use them to keep your follows, alerts and subscription tied to you across devices.
- Traders you follow. The public wallet addresses (and display names) of the traders you add to your watchlist, plus whether you have muted their alerts.
- Push notification token. If you allow notifications, we store your device's push token so we can send alerts when traders you follow place a bet. Without permission we don't get a token.
- Subscription status. If you subscribe to Whalecast Pro, Apple processes the payment. We receive the subscription status and purchase history needed to unlock Pro, through RevenueCat. We never see your payment card details.
- App usage. Which screens you open and what you do in the app, for example following a trader, sharing, opening an alert or viewing the Pro plans, together with the time, your app version and platform (iOS or Android). This is linked to your account and stored in our own database.
Your app settings, such as the whale threshold and haptics, and cached market data are stored only on your device.
What we don't collect
We don't collect your contacts, precise location, photos or advertising identifier. We don't use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
Market data
The traders, trades and markets shown in Whalecast come from public Polymarket data. That data is already public on the blockchain, and we show it as it is. Whalecast is not affiliated with Polymarket.
How we use your information
- To sign you in and keep your watchlist in sync across your devices.
- To send push alerts you've asked for.
- To unlock and restore Whalecast Pro.
- To understand how the app is used, so we can fix problems and decide what to improve. We look at usage in aggregate and never use it for advertising.
- To reply when you contact us.
- To keep the service secure and working, for example by preventing abuse.
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on performing our contract with you (providing the app you've chosen to use) and our legitimate interest in running, securing and improving the service.
Service providers
We use a small number of providers who process data on our behalf and only to run Whalecast:
- Supabase to host our database, accounts and usage data.
- Apple and Google to sign you in.
- Expo and Apple Push Notification service to deliver push alerts.
- RevenueCat and Apple to manage subscriptions.
- Vercel to host this website.
Some of these providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States, with appropriate safeguards in place. We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
How long we keep it
We keep your account, follows, push token and usage data while you have an account. When you use Settings › Delete account, your account and everything tied to it, including your follows, push tokens and usage data, are deleted. Settings › Reset Whalecast unfollows everyone and removes this device from alerts but keeps your account. Subscription records are kept as long as needed for billing and legal purposes.
Your choices and rights
- Turn alerts off at any time in Settings › Notifications or in iOS Settings, or mute individual traders in the app.
- Unfollow everyone or reset the app from Settings.
- Delete your account and its data from Settings › Delete account.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, or object to how we use it, including the use of your usage data. Write to us from the email you sign in with, or use Settings › Contact support, so we can find your account. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Whalecast is not intended for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. If the changes are significant, we'll also tell you in the app.
